The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), in partnership with Network Rail and Arriva Trains Wales, is currently undertaking a feasibility study into the possible provision of an hourly rail service on the Cambrian Main Line between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury.
The necessary infrastructure improvement works required on the line to provide the enhanced service frequency could be undertaken in conjunction with Network Rail's forthcoming programme of works for the UK trial of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) which will take place on the Cambrian Lines.
As part of this feasibility study it is necessary to asses the options for an improved timetable taking account of the following:
In addition to the consultation events that have already taken place the WAG therefore seek further engagement with stakeholders to seek the views of as wide a range of bodies, organisations and businesses as possible on this matter.
Should you wish to participate in this process, please contact Olwen Minney from the WAG's Rail Unit, at the below, in the first instance:

Gerwyn Jones, on behalf of the Cambrian Railways Partnership, stated: "An hourly train service between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury is a long standing aspiration for many in Mid Wales – this is an opportunity for people to relay their views and support on this matter to the Welsh Assembly Government in the hope of realising this aspiration."
