As part of it’s ongoing efforts to make information available as widely as possible, the Cambrian Railways Partnership is developing an ‘app’ for smartphones which will enable users to get easy access to the website and it’s many useful links.

“This is part of our efforts this year to make our website more attractive, more user friendly, more useful, and more relevant,” said Rhydian Mason of the CRP.

“We are aware that these days, websites are probably the most important method of distributing information to people, and as such, we have spent a great deal of time in re-vamping our website to bring it to a level that can be amended, developed, and enhanced as required.

“Our new website has been up and running since September 2011, and already, the increase in the number of visitors to the site has given us some very interesting statistics on how the site is used.

“Of particular note is the number of people that access the site via smartphones, and therefore, in creating a platform for an ‘app’ for smartphones we are directly responding to this so that those users accessing our information by smartphone can get better, easier access to information in a way that suits them,” he added.

The new ‘app’, made possibly thanks to support from Tourism Partnership Mid Wales is currently available via a download link from the partnership’s website, and is the first version, created as an initial point for ongoing development.

“Now that we have the basic platform for this app, we can develop this alongside our website so that users can of the app can get the same useful information as is available on the main site – timetables, tourist information, links to accommodation and events in the area and so on.”
