Our Christmas Competition winner goes for pampering at Portmeirion!

20 Feb 2012 | Category: News

Lorraine Moore, of the Upper Limit Cafe in the seaside town of Borth is heading off this week for a short rail break to Portmeirion. Having won the christmas competition run in partnership with the Cambrian News, Portmeirion Village and Arriva Trains Wales, Lorraine, who is well used to serving others in her cafe at Borth, will be getting served herself for a change in the sumptuous and unique surroundings of Portmeirion.

We met up with Lorraine at her local station, where Rhydian Mason of the Cambrian Railways Partnership, Regional ATW stations manager David Crunkhorn, and Goerge Romary of the Borth Adoptees group presented her with her certificate to travel from Borth up to Minffordd on the Cambrian Coast line.

"I never usually win anything!" said Lorraine.

"To find out that I'd won such a nice prize was a great surprise to me, and, being a cafe owner, I don't usually have the time to get away and treat myself, so to win a prize like this meant that I had to make sure that I could organise some time off for us to take a well earned break.

"On top of that, I must be one of a minority of people who've never been to Portmeirion, so I'm particularly looking forward to seeing this place that I've heard so much about."

The Cambrian Railways Partnership would like to thank Arriva Trains Wales and Portmeirion Village for the rail passes and accommodation, and also to the Cambrian News for running the competition.
