Cambrian Railway Partnership Launches Railway 200 Community Grant Fund

To mark the 200th anniversary of the modern railway, the Cambrian Railway Partnership has launched the 2025 Community Grant Fund, offering financial support for projects that celebrate railway history and contribute to community development.


Awards of up to £500 are available for organisations that meet the eligibility and grant criteria. The total grant pot available is £9000.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

Organisations applying for the grant must:

 

  • Community organisations, charity CIC or groups that have a bank account in the name of the group applying 

  • Applicant organisations must located within six miles (10km) of a railway station on the Cambrian Line

 

CRITERIA

 

The fund will support creative and community driven activities that celebrate and mark the 200th anniversary of the railway being built. 

 

Examples of activities include:

 

  • Arts & Creativity – Railway-themed artwork, station murals

  • Sculpture – Miniature station models, train sculptures from driftwood or recycled materials

  • Photography – Capturing railway history, scenic landscapes, iconic structures

  • Digital Art – Virtual models of trains/stations, digital railway-inspired paintings

  • Film – Short films showcasing railway culture and landscapes

  • Theatre & Dance – Performances based on railway journeys, overheard train conversations

  • Storytelling & Poetry – Intergenerational storytelling projects, railway-themed podcasts

  • Community & Heritage Art – Mosaics made from sea glass or pottery, railway-inspired street art

  • Green & Sustainable Projects – Train-themed gardens, eco workshops using natural resources

  • Textile Projects – Railway patchwork quilts, tapestries, yarn bombing

  • Railway-Themed Community Gatherings  – Community gatherings, events for older residents

  • History & Interpretation – Railway history exhibitions, station heritage talks, local interpretation boards


Funded projects must be fully spent by the end of March 2026 and end of project report completed by Monday 6th April 2026.
